BJP sinks in Kashmir, NC-Congress alliance wins
After the counting of votes on Tuesday, the Election Commission announced the number of seats for each party. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) is at the top with 42 seats. BJP got 29 seats. And Congress got six seats.
Seven independent candidates won in their respective constituencies. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's party PDF won three seats. Sajad Gani Lone's JKPC won one seat. Aam Aadmi Party won one seat in Doda. CPI(M) got one seat.
Interestingly, BJP got 25.64 percent votes, National Conference got 23.43 percent votes, Congress got 11.97 percent votes.
The National Conference-Congress alliance is going to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir through the results of the polls. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is resuming the same responsibility. JKNC president Farooq Abdullah confirmed this.
