Steven Smith's IPL performance is not too bad overall. However, after a bad performance in the 2021 season, he was not seen again in this Indian franchise league. However, he has a strong desire to return. The Australian batsman made it clear that he wants to play in the world's top franchise league again.
Smith has played 9 seasons in IPL so far. He played 103 matches with 1 century and 11 fifties at an average of 2,485 at 34.51. Strike rate 128.09.
He scored the most runs in the season in 2017. He scored 472 runs at an average of 39.33 for Rising Pune Supergiants.
Later, Rajasthan Royals took him to the team for 12.5 crore rupees. He did not play in the 2018 season. Performances were not too bad for Rajasthan in the next two seasons. He scored 319 runs in the 2019 season, 311 in the 2020 season. But could not do well in 2021 IPL for Delhi Capitals. Sebar scored 152 runs in 8 matches at a strike rate of only 112.59. That was his last season in the IPL so far. The batsman with a base price of Rs 2 crore remained unsold even though he was named in the auction last season. Later he worked as an analyst on TV.

Mega auction of IPL ahead. So Smith has some potential. There are also reports in the Indian media that three franchises are interested in him.
Recently, however, Smith lost his place in Australia's T20 team. He was not included in the last World Cup team. With the way Australia's T20 team is going, his chances of getting a chance in this edition in the future seem unlikely for now.
Smith himself is unsure about that. He also expressed the disappointment of not getting a place in the World Cup team.
